In each episode, the designers behind the products, Formafantasma, Nendo, Michael Anastassiades, Achille Castiglioni, speak about their work and the ideas that shaped it. Workroom handled motion direction and design for the full series, developing the visual language and animation system across all episodes. Episode 1 Superloon—Jasper Morrison “Design makes things seem special, and who wants normal if they can have special? And that’s the problem. There are better ways to design than putting a big effort into making something look special. Special is generally less useful than normal, and less rewarding in the long term” Episode 2Taccia—Achille &amp; Pier Giacomo Castiglioni Taccia was initially designed by the Castiglioni brothers with a transparent plastic bowl reflector but, to their surprise, they found that intense heat flattened the bowl. Workroom contributed motion design and animation to the project, working across multiple sequences of the main film. The animations combine frame-by-frame and keyframe techniques — a choice that allowed precise control over timing and movement while preserving a raw, handmade quality. Working at a low frame rate was a deliberate decision, giving the motion a weight and texture consistent with the tone of the exhibition. The Milano 2030 exhibition occupied a dedicated space within the new Urban Center at Triennale Milano — a room with stone seating where the film and animations were projected as part of the permanent installation.
